Stewardship of Prayer

Stewardship of Prayer

The foundation of all other forms of stewardship is prayer—giving back to God in thanksgiving a generous portion of our time through a prayerful relationship with Him.  Since Advent of 2005, we have offered parishioners the opportunity make a personal commitment to increase prayer in their lives for the following year.

Stewardship of Prayer booklet is available during each annual renewal and can be downloaded by clicking here.  The booklet is a resource for daily prayer throughout the year and just one of the many ways we can increase prayer in our daily lives.  Copies of the prayer book are available in either the Gathering Space or our Works of Mercy Chapel.

On Stewardship of Prayer commitment weekend (usually held on the second weekend of Advent), parishioners are given an opportunity to reflect on and complete a personal prayer pledge. The pledge card lists a variety of prayer suggestions for increasing our prayer life.  After completion of the two-part card, one side is collected during Mass; the other side may be kept as a personal reminder of one’s renewed prayer commitment for the coming year.  Why return a portion of the card at Mass?  Returning a portion of the card helps us assess and appreciate the amazing and powerful presence of prayer here at Saint Thomas More Church. The prayer commitment cards are completed anonymously--it's your commitment to yourself!

With grateful hearts, may we experience the power of prayer in our hearts, our homes, our parish, and far beyond the boundaries of our community and nation.
